A late October jaunt on through Canyonlands National Park.
It’s a mountain bike pilgrimage of sorts. Reserving a campsite can be a challenge. Lack of water on the route means that a van or truck support is preferable. The nearly 100 mile ride can be done in a day, and it is something of a rite of passage to do it like that. Or you can take your time like we did: Split it into four more leisurely days of riding. This leaves time for sitting around camp, drinking beers and whiskey, admiring the stars, and generally enjoying the desert life. Bring a van along to carry your stuff, and you’re all set for a week of bike glamping in the desert. In short: A week of heaven in Utah.
